THE HORN OF AFRICA

Ethiopia has a larger population than Egypt, Iran or Turkey—more people than France, Great Britain or Italy. It’s 15th largest in the world, at 77 million people, second only to Nigeria in Africa, in one of the most fertile areas of the world. When all the rest of Africa was colonialzed by Europeans, Ethiopia alone maintained its sovereignty, actually startling the world by defeating a modern Italian Army in 1896.

The Abyssinian church is the oldest continually existing church in the world, tracing it’s birth to the Ethiopian Eunuch of Acts 8. As one of the oldest nations in the world, you will find the name of Ethiopia OVER 40 times in the Bible!

Herodotus, the Greek historian, describes them as “the tallest and handsomest of men."

Ethiopia is spoken of in prophecy (Psalm 68:31; Psalm 87:4; Isaiah 45:14; Ezekiel 30:4-9; Daniel 11:43; Nahum 3:8-10; Habakkuk 3:7; Zeph. 2:12).

However, while Ethiopia is 15th in the world in terms of population, it struggles with achieving it's potential in the mind of God.

The work is vast in Ethiopia; there is much to be done. We desire to work quickly since there will soon come a time when no man will be able to work. The unreached people groups are within our reach—if you get involved. The missionaries need our assistance in prayer and funds.
